LENSAPANGANDARAN.COM – Satu disabilitas tuna daksa, Ahmad Poniman (38) warga Desa Margacinta, Kecamatan Cijulang, Kabupaten Pangandaran tetap semangat berlatih untuk menjadi atlet bulutangkis.
Selain menjadi atlet bulutangkis, Ahmad juga kerja sebagai karyawan di satu perusahaan di Pangandaran.
Ahmad memiliki hobi olahraga bulutangkis sejak terjadi kecelakaan kerja di tempat kerjanya dan tangannya harus diamputansi.
Terjadi kecelakaan kerja yaitu pada tahun 2005, tangan kiri milik Ahmad masuk ke dalam mesin adonan kue mikser dan akhirnya harus diamputansi.
“Ya, karena tangan kiri saya sudah enggak ada. Tahun 2006, mulai iseng iseng olahraga bulutangkis,” kata Ahmad.
Dahulu sebelum terjadi kecelakaan, Ahmad mengaku menyukai olahraga futsal. Namun, karena terjadi kecelakaan kerja, sekarang beralih ke olahraga bulu tangkis.
“Karena, dimana mana olahraga futsal harus seimbang bodynya. Makanya, beralih ke bulutangkis,” jelasnya.
Dia bersyukur, ketika ada NPCI di Kabupaten Pangandaran itu sudah mulai ada wadah untuk menampung orang-orang disabilitas.
“Dalam artian, kita enggak mau kalah dengan orang normal atau orang sempurna lainnya. Alhamdulilah, kita lebih tersalurkan,” paparnya.
Kini, di olahraga bulutangkis Ia termotivasi untuk tetap semangat berlatih untuk menjadi atlet profesional.
“Dan mudah-mudahan, menjadi motivasi lagi bagi orang lain. Artinya, saya seperti ini juga (disabilitas) bisa jadi atlet,” ungkapnya.
Ahmad berharap, teman-teman yang lain juga tetap semangat, jangan mudah menyerah dan kejar prestasi kalian.
“Kita semuanya, sama di mata tuhan. Yang penting, kita bisa berkarya dan berprestasi. Mudah-mudahan juga, saya bisa memberikan dampak positif bagi disabilitas lainnya,” ungkapnya.
Sementara, untuk persiapan Pekan Paralimpik Daerah (Peparda) VI Jawa barat sendiri, Ia memiliki target untuk mendapatkan medali perugu.
“Soalnya, dari klasifikasinya juga untuk pelatnas juga sudah pada turun.
Jadi, kita enggak muluk-muluk target medali perunggu.”
“Alhamdulilah, dulu tahun 2018 juga sempat dapat medali perunggu di kelas bulutangkis dobel,” cetusnya.
Sedangkan di Peparda VI ini, Ahmad akan mengikuti kategori bulutangkis single, double dan juga beregu.
“Untuk persiapan, Saya yakin 70 persen lah, tinggal kekompakannya. Setiap hari kita latihan terus, sehari kita 2 kali latihan,” tegasnya. (*)
